Still in the ER

Justin has had a rough morning and is still in the ER at UVA. They stitched up the lacerations in his leg overnight and put him on morphine. Apparently that made him nauseous so they switched pain meds. This morning they inserted a pin just above his knee (while he was still awake) and are planning to put his leg in traction as soon as they can move him to a regular room. They will wire the pin to weights with the intention of pulling the head of the femur bone away from the shattered hip. They are concerned that the femur will be damaged by the sharp fragments. He is still feeling everything and I'm pretty sure the pin procedure was traumatizing for him. He also hasn't been given permission to eat or drink yet. The surgeon has not been able to see him yet as he has surgeries scheduled for the entire day. Surgery is tentatively scheduled for sometime tomorrow. Please continue to pray for Justin. He is in a tremendous amount of pain and is also saddened by the fact that he is missing the wedding of one of his best friends this weekend (he was supposed to fly out to Oregon this morning). Brandon and his dad are on their way up there as I type this. They are bringing Justin his computer so feel free to leave comments for him to read.

  1. Justin, thought I'd pipe in again after reading some updates. Sounds as if you're in tremendous pain, and I wish we could all just take it from you. It also sounds as if you have the disappointment to deal with on top of everything else, about missing an important event. I'm sorry to hear that, too. By the way, I've had the medical world populating my mind for months because of a project I'm on, so I am thinking of all the different aspects of your current care. I'm praying for you, foremost, but also for the various nurses, techs, and physicians involved to take good care of you. Hang in there. You're gonna be okay.

  4. JR, I left a comment earlier, but I have no idea what happened to it. Just wanted to let you know that all of the Bradley family and their significant others are holding you up in prayer. I am so sorry that you are in so much pain as well as so discouraged. I pray that you will be surrounded by comfort and love. Please let any of us know if you need anything. Love you!

  6. Justin.. We are so sorry that you still have so much pain and are praying that soon!! someone on staff will be able to make you more comfortable. I am sure it is a comfort for you that not only God is with you but also your mother!! I know she is fighting for you anyway she can with her medical knowledge and her love for you. She will be fighting like a "mother bear" to protect her youngest "cub"!! We are praising God that the surgeon has finally seen you and you have a better understanding of what will be done for you. Hang in there the "Prayer Warriors" are with you! Lots of love Jeanee and Al
