We are told that Justin is going to have surgery tomorrow morning sometime (providing there are no emergency traumas that come in). This is great news! We are so anxious to get the healing process started.
Justin is doing much better. His pain is being regulated and he has actually been dozing on and off since I got to the hospital around noon. They gave him muscle relaxers for some spasms he was having in his back. I think this has made all the difference. He is sleeping right now. It's too bad because his roommate is serenading us in Spanish. I wonder if he knows we're on the other side of the curtain? Adorable.
Justin is such a trooper. He rates his pain at a 4 or 5 right now and I know that his knee is hurting him quite a bit from the traction. I didn't realize this earlier, but he has a broken patella (kneecap) as well. I'm pretty sure the traction pin irritates it, but Justin doesn't say anything unless you ask him how his pain is. He is so grateful for your thoughts and prayers. It's been great for him to read all of your comments...I know he feels loved and cared for.
I will keep you updated as the surgery draws closer so you can pray. Thank you for all the prayers you have offered up so far!
We are praying for you, Justin, and your family. Jim & Elaine Knautz
